Biography.

Achdé, whose real name is Hervé Darmenton (HD), is a French comic book author and illustrator.

Before fully dedicating himself to his passion for comic books, Achdé worked as a radiologist. In 1985, he decided to leave his medical career to focus entirely on drawing. In 1988, he published his first comic book, "Destins Croisés," which he self-published.

In 1991, he joined the French book publishing company Dargaud, for several series, either alone or in collaboration. Among his creations are "Fort Braillard," "Woker" (featuring an interplanetary Tarzan), and "Doc Véto."

Two years after the death of Morris (the creator of Lucky Luke) in 2003, Achdé was entrusted with the task of continuing the series in collaboration with the writer Laurent Gerra. He stated: "For me, it was a childhood dream; when I was a child, Lucky Luke was my favorite hero, and when I was young, I knew I wanted to be a cartoonist."

He was part of the 2023 traveling Comic Arts festival Les Troubadours de la BD in Louisiana, California and New-York. He was also part of the jury of the Concours BD International.

In 2024, he combines his passion for comics books with his inital career in the medical sector with "Aïe ! La douleur se traite aussi avec l'humour".
