Catherine Goldschmidt.

Biography.
Catherine Goldschmidt is a French children’s author who has spent most of her life in Montréal, Canada, and now lives in California, where she has been based since 2013. A passionate traveler and devoted mother, she has built her life between France, Québec, and the West Coast, drawing inspiration from each place she calls home.
Before dedicating herself fully to writing, Catherine spent twenty years as a journalist and columnist specializing in games, toys, and family life for major Québec media outlets. Today, she focuses exclusively on creating picture books and youth fiction.
She is the author of Le Bisou (Dominique et Compagnie), a tender and humorous early‑reader book that explores different kinds of kisses, from the Butterfly Kiss to the Balloon Kiss, while opening conversations with educators and parents about consent and emotional autonomy.
Her work also includes the interactive series Je découvre (Wallstories) and more than a hundred family‑life columns for publications such as Enfants‑Québec and Naître et grandir.
Catherine has contributed to numerous educational projects, including adapted stories and activities for children, writing guidance for L’apprenti clown (in support of Théodora), and editorial support for ten books addressing themes such as grief, consent, anger, and body diversity for the Lire & Grandir program.
In January 2027, she will join an author residency at the Maple J Villa, organized by SJJ Agency, where she will meet young readers, lead workshops, and continue her work around early literacy and emotional awareness.
