Sylvie Joseph-Julien, also known as Sjj, is a passionate advocate for francophone arts and culture.

She founded Sjj agency, a platform that promotes cross-cultural and intergenerational dialogue through arts and literature. She launched the FESTIVAL BD USA, the first French-Belgian Comic Arts festival in the United States, in 2020, in collaboration with Jean Bastide, the renowned cartoonist of Billy & Buddy series.

She has been developing LES TROUBADOURS, a francophone traveling book festival for young readers, families, and educators, since 2021. Sylvie is also a storyteller, an aspiring author and editor of youth literature, exploring new ways of storytelling and expression, cofounding the publishing company LES MARMOTTES POLYGLOTTES in Seattle, WA.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the promotion of francophone arts and culture, she was awarded Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2021.

Sjj is the illustrator behind the Comics 4 Climate exhibition launched in 2025. She draws with heart and humor—her critters wiggle, her stories spark, and her lines make us think.
